Actor JP Reddy, also known as JP, is ready to present a story that he believes will resonate with anyone who has moved from a village to the city in search of better education. The film, titled Karki, marks the directorial debut of Tamil filmmaker Pavitran in Kannada cinema. JP discusses the upcoming film, stating, “We delve into various intriguing issues in this narrative, such as caste dynamics and the broader concept of the right to education.” While taking on the role presented its challenges, JP shares, “Initially, I had doubts about portraying this character when director Pavitran narrated the story to me. Coming from an urban background, transforming into a rustic local boy seemed like a daunting task. I shed 6 kilograms by altering my exercise routine and diet, and wore only four shirts obtained from Gurjari market in Shivajinagar during the entire filming process. My appearance and mannerisms underwent a significant change. However, this is all part of an actor's job – to inhabit the persona of the character being portrayed. Failure to do so invalidates the very essence of acting. One must fully embrace and embody the character to convincingly portray it.”
